About Markah

What We Do

Markah is a web application that helps Malaysian secondary school English teachers grade handwritten student essays faster and more consistently. Teachers photograph student essays with their phone, and Markah reads the handwriting using AI (OCR), then scores each essay against the official Ministry of Education marking rubrics.

Who We Serve

Markah is built for Malaysian English teachers grading:

• SPM English 1119/2 — Part 1 (guided writing), Part 2 (extended writing), and Part 3 (review, article, or story)
• PT3 English — Part 1 and Part 2
• Custom written assessments using any rubric

Our Mission

Marking essays is one of the most time-consuming tasks a teacher faces. Markah exists to give teachers that time back — without sacrificing the quality or consistency of feedback students receive. We believe AI should assist, not replace, the teacher's professional judgement.

Technology

Markah uses advanced AI to read handwritten essays from photos and score them against official marking rubrics. All essay photos are processed immediately and discarded — we do not store original images. Grading results are saved to your account only.
